Bee venom peptides have systemic action:
anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-pyretic, stimulating vascular
permeability. It also regulates the body's level of cortisone (cortisone is produced by
adrenal gland).
It is proved that in therapeutic doses bee venom is extremely helpful as pain relief
remedy for people suffering from rheumatoid and arthritis diseases
(S.Wilkinson, 1998; Cherbuliez, 1999).Furthermore
Russian scientists have discovered that bee venom contributes to capillary vessel and
small artery distention, increasing the blood surge to the organs and promotes improvement
in metabolism. Since bee venom increases the content of hemoglobin and leucocytes in the
blood, it thins blood and decrease its coagulability, it can be very helpful for people susceptible to trombophlebitis.
Bee venom promotes a decrease of cholesterol content in the blood, provide a tonic
effect for the heart muscle, and decreases blood pressure. (V.N. Krylov, 1995 ).
It contains several important peptides which act to relieve
joint and muscle pain from injuries or arthritic inflammation in three ways.
* By stimulating the body to produce natural cortisol
* By increasing blood flow to the affected joints
* By inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins which increase inflammation
The result is a natural anti-inflammatory action which combines in mobilising the body's
defence and support systems, improving circulation to the joints, providing nutrients,
removing waste and preventing infections
Melittin: The most potent anti-inflammatory peptide in bee
venom:
Is 100 times more potent as an
anti-inflammatory agent than hydrocortisol,
when tested in rats with arthritis. ( Nature, Nov 1974 ) |
